Death of American actor Vincent Pastore at 80

Vincent Pastore, the veteran actor known for portraying gangsters and tough guys and best remembered for his role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero in the series “The Sopranos,” has died at the age of 80.

Bob McGowan, who managed Pastore’s affairs since his time on “The Sopranos,” told The Associated Press that he learned of his death on Saturday from another agent and fellow cast member, Vincent Curatola.

Pastore was found at his home in City Island, New York, after there had been no news of him for several days.

Pastore appeared in films since the 1980s and had roles in major movies including “Goodfellas” and “Awakenings,” both released in 1990.
