Environment Authority: Investing in awareness among youth and young people is the foundation for building a sustainable future

The Public Authority for Environment confirmed on Saturday that building environmental awareness among children and youth represents a genuine investment in the nation’s future and enhances their capacity to contribute to environmental protection and the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of the opening of the fourth season of the national initiative “Sustainability Camp,” under the slogan “When Technology Meets Sustainability,” Acting Director General of the Authority Nouf Bahbahani said the Authority’s participation stems from its conviction that sustainability has become a fundamental pillar of development, and that real change begins with the individual, fostering a more aware, responsible, and sustainable society.

Bahbahani added that the Authority believes environmental protection is achieved by entrenching environmental values and strengthening a culture of responsibility among members of society, especially children and youth, who are regarded as the nation’s true wealth and the architects of its future.

She clarified that promoting environmental awareness and empowering youth are among the Authority’s top priorities, based on the belief that investing in human capital is the most sustainable form of investment, and that cultivating a generation equipped with knowledge, awareness, and initiative is the true guarantee for preserving natural resources and achieving sustainable development.

She emphasized the Authority’s commitment to continuing its partnership in this national initiative and its ongoing support for awareness-raising initiatives that enhance environmental consciousness, encourage innovation, and promote collaborative efforts, thereby contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals and building a more prosperous and sustainable future.
