Moroccan Ambassador: Kuwait is a strategic partner, and its steadfast positions toward Rabat are appreciated
The Moroccan Ambassador to Kuwait, Ali Ben Issa, affirmed that Moroccan-Kuwaiti relations represent a model of entrenched Arab partnership, rooted in solid historical and fraternal ties. He praised Kuwait’s steadfast and supportive stance on the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, which reflects the depth of the fraternal relations between the two countries.
This statement was made during a celebration hosted by the Moroccan Embassy to mark the 27th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the throne. The event was attended by State Minister for Economic Affairs and Investment Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq, Deputy Minister of Defense Dr. Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mashal, Al-Jahra Governor Hamad Al-Habashi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Countries Affairs Abdulaziz Al-Adwani, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights Affairs Sheikhah Jawaher Al-Sabah, along with several heads of diplomatic missions and members of the Moroccan community.
Ben Issa stated that Kuwait is not merely a strategic partner for Morocco, but a “beloved country” linked to the Kingdom by relations based on mutual respect, solidarity, and cooperation. He expressed his appreciation for the sincere fraternal sentiments held by Kuwait, both its leadership and government, and its people, toward Morocco.
He noted that Kuwait’s supportive position on the Kingdom’s territorial integrity is highly valued in Rabat, and is based on the close ties between King Mohammed VI and His Highness the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He emphasized that the Kingdom continues to achieve diplomatic gains as international support for the Autonomy Initiative expands, viewing it as a serious and realistic solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue.
On the economic front, the Ambassador clarified that economic relations between Kuwait and Morocco have seen significant development in recent years. Bilateral trade reached approximately 943 million Moroccan dirhams in 2024, with growth continuing into 2025. Moroccan exports to Kuwait rose by 7.1 percent during the first half of the year.
He added that Kuwait is the third-largest Arab investor in Morocco, with investments spanning strategic sectors including real estate, renewable energy, telecommunications, financial services, and tourism. He pointed out that the launch of the direct flight route between Kuwait and Casablanca has helped stimulate travel and tourism exchanges, with the number of Kuwaiti visitors to Morocco exceeding 38,000 in 2025.
Ben Issa confirmed that 2025 witnessed a surge in economic cooperation between the two countries through the organization of two business forums, coordinated with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and involving Moroccan economic institutions. These initiatives have opened new horizons for partnerships between the private sectors of both nations.
He expressed the Kingdom’s hope that the next session of the Moroccan-Kuwaiti Supreme Joint Committee, scheduled to be held in Morocco in the coming months, will serve as an important milestone for developing the legal framework for bilateral relations, signing new agreements and memoranda of understanding, and launching practical cooperation programs across various fields.
