WhatsApp launches new feature to clean storage space and manage files

The new feature comes as part of Meta’s ongoing efforts to streamline data management and free up additional storage space on smartphones without affecting other conversations, in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android, version 2.26.19.4.

According to WABetaInfo, a website specializing in WhatsApp updates, the new feature allows users to automatically or manually delete channel media with flexibility, addressing the issue of memory consumption. It provides content filtering options by type while preserving starred messages, and helps improve phone performance through intelligent management of accumulated images and videos.

In the same vein, the app has added a new notification that appears to users immediately after following any new channel, suggesting they unmute notifications to ensure they do not miss important updates. This addresses the default mute feature that was previously applied automatically and contributed to a decline in follower engagement.
