Trump: Peace Council reaches agreement on disarming Gaza as part of a 20-point peace plan

US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the “Peace Council” he established had reached an agreement for the complete disarmament of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, and all other armed factions in the Gaza Strip.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump described the development as a “turning point in implementing Trump’s 20-point plan” to end Israel’s war in Gaza. He clarified that the agreement would be implemented in stages, with Israeli forces withdrawing in tandem with the disarmament process, and that an international stabilization force would work alongside a new Palestinian police force to secure the Strip.

He thanked the mediators Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey. Trump said, “This agreement is a highly significant step toward Gaza finally coming under the rule of a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the ‘Peace Council’ to assist the Palestinian people.” He added, “At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves.”

Earlier in the day, sources reported that talks held in Cairo between mediators and Hamas leaders regarding the implementation of the Gaza peace plan, brokered by Washington, had achieved rare progress, although an Israeli official said the proposed terms were unsatisfactory. Medics reported that Israeli airstrikes killed at least six Palestinians in Gaza on Thursday, including two children.
