Egyptian President: Relevant authorities have begun investigations to ascertain the details and circumstances of the "Damietta incident"

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that the Spanish Prime Minister began the call by expressing his country’s condemnation of the incident involving two ships at the Port of Damietta on July 29, 2026, which resulted from a drone attack, affirming Spain’s solidarity, both government and people, with Egypt at this critical juncture.

The President clarified that the relevant authorities are conducting investigations to ascertain the details and circumstances of the incident, highlighting the seriousness of the escalation unfolding in the region, and emphasizing the necessity for Egypt, Spain, Europe, and the international community to unite in halting this escalation.
