Abdullah Al-Salem Housing Estate Honors Sunmez on World Friendship Day

The Abdullah Al-Salem Health City hosted a ceremony today at the Al-Mubaraki Diwan to honor Turkey’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Tüba Nur Sonmez, on the occasion of International Friendship Day and in appreciation of the ambassador’s efforts to support the city’s activities before her departure following the end of her tenure in Kuwait.

Sousan Al-Sarhan, head of the Environmental and Community Committee at the city, said that the celebration to honor and bid farewell to the Turkish ambassador was a result of her influential and active role in the city’s activities, particularly regarding the waste sorting project, as well as her role in liaising with other embassies to serve the area.

She added that friendship plays a major role not only at the individual level but also at the country level, noting that Kuwait and Turkey share relations of brotherhood, exchange, and mutual cooperation. Consequently, the Turkish experience in waste sorting was utilized, and this cooperation contributed to Abdullah Al-Salem City securing first place in Kuwait for waste sorting collection, in collaboration with waste collection and recycling companies.

For her part, Eng. Ibtisam Al-Kahtani, head of the Media Committee at the health city, said that friendship has a significant impact on strengthening relations among individuals, communities, countries, and peoples. Therefore, the city organizes its community service activities while striving to enhance social bonds, affection, cooperation, and friendship, as these support and encourage efforts to further elevate the nation and establish the city as a model to be emulated across all regions of Kuwait, whether through the cooperation of its residents or the activities they provide to serve their community.

For her part, Ambassador Sonmez expressed her happiness at this honor, which underscores the depth of social ties and cooperation between the Kuwaiti and Turkish peoples. She noted that she spent four wonderful years in Kuwait that will remain in her memory forever, and that she will strive to leverage these good relations and maintain them despite her departure from the country.

She added that she was pleased to receive the traditional Kuwaiti women’s dress as a gift from the city’s women, as well as proud of the efforts they contribute to serving their community, which saw cooperation with the Turkish Embassy on this important file.
