Messi returns to Inter Miami training

Lionel Messi returned to his team’s training sessions at Inter Miami CF in the United States on Wednesday, a day after losing the FIFA World Cup final with Argentina to Spain.

The Argentine star was seen entering the training ground alongside his Inter Miami teammate, Uruguayan Luis Suárez, in a video clip shared by the club on social media.

Since the 1-0 defeat to Spain in the final held on July 19 in New Jersey, Messi has spent time with his family in his hometown of Rosario.

The Argentina captain wrote on social media the day after the final: “The pain is very intense, and it is difficult for this wound to heal. But I also hold on to all the positive aspects.”

The 39-year-old player had hoped to lead Argentina to a back-to-back title, their fourth in history, but the Spanish team denied him that dream and lifted the trophy for the second time, following their first victory 16 years earlier in South Africa in 2010.

Messi has not yet clarified whether he will continue playing for the national team.
