Eddie Howe departs Newcastle... as German Jaesle draws closer

The BBC reported, citing sources, that Eddie Howe faced pressure last season, which Newcastle finished in 12th place after losing 17 of their 38 Premier League matches.

Howe’s last match in charge was a 4-1 defeat to Bristol City in a friendly played on Wednesday.

Howe took over as Newcastle manager in November 2021, succeeding Steve Bruce. He ended Newcastle’s 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy, having won the EFL Cup in 2005.

Eddie Howe departs following a disappointing season in which Newcastle finished 12th in the Premier League, alongside a turbulent summer transfer window that saw the sale of high-profile stars such as Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.

Newcastle’s interest in the young German coach comes after his outstanding success with Al Ahli, where he led the team to win the AFC Champions League Elite title in consecutive years, 2025 and 2026.
