UEFA boycotts FIFA tournaments in protest of private investment plan for the World Cup

The member associations of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have agreed to boycott competitions organized by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) in protest of the private investment plan for the World Cup.
In an unprecedentedly strong statement, UEFA affirmed that “the spirit and governance of football are not commodities to be traded,” emphasizing that FIFA does not own the game to sell it, and that what is occurring crosses red lines that cannot be tolerated.
