Saudi Arabia records a budget deficit of 34 billion riyals in the second half

The Saudi Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday that the Kingdom’s revenues during the second quarter of 2026 reached SAR 338 billion, with a deficit of SAR 34.28 billion, noting that oil revenues amounted to SAR 185.1 billion.
The Ministry issued its budget performance report for the second quarter of 2026, which showed actual total revenues of SAR 338.8 billion against total expenditures of SAR 373 billion, resulting in a deficit of SAR 34.28 billion.
The report clarified that oil revenues during the second quarter of the current year reached SAR 185.1 billion, compared to SAR 151.7 billion in the same quarter of the previous year, representing a 22% increase.
Non-oil revenues recorded SAR 153.7 billion, compared to SAR 149.8 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, marking a 3% rise.
Total revenues for the first half of the current year reached SAR 599.7 billion, against expenditures of SAR 759.7 billion, resulting in a deficit of SAR 160 billion.
Total oil revenues during the first half of the current year amounted to SAR 329.8 billion, compared to SAR 301.5 billion in the same period last year, an increase of 9%. Meanwhile, non-oil revenues reached SAR 269.9 billion, compared to SAR 263.6 billion in the corresponding half of the previous year, a rise of 2%.
The total deficit for the first half amounted to SAR 160 billion, financed through public debt. The balance of the General Reserve Fund and the current account stood at SAR 399 billion at the end of the first half of the current year.
