Kazma begins its trials in Turkey with a match against Al-Waab
Kuwait SC’s first team will kick off its friendly matches during its current training camp in Turkey tomorrow, Thursday, when it faces Qatari side Al-Waab, as part of its preparations for the 2026-2027 season.
The match is part of the Orange’s program to prepare for the new season, which sees their return to participation in international competitions. They will compete in the third edition of the GCC Champions Club Championship, having finished fourth in the Zain League table last season.
The technical staff, led by Croatian coach Tadić, aims to maximize the benefits of the experience by assessing the players’ technical and physical condition, as well as their understanding of the training sessions they underwent previously, both in Kuwait and since arriving at the Turkish camp.
Tadić is expected to give 22 players a chance during the match, aiming to adequately prepare all squad members for the upcoming season, which holds numerous commitments and challenges for the Orange at both the domestic and international levels.
On another note, Kuwait SC has completed its roster of foreign players by signing German striker Torlies Knoll, who has previously undergone several professional experiences, most recently with Saudi Pro League club Al-Taawoun, where he scored 17 goals. Knoll also played in the Croatian First and Second Divisions, scoring 32 goals during his stint there.
The 28-year-old Knoll is expected to arrive at the Turkish camp in the coming hours to begin his duties with the Orange. He joined Kuwait SC on a free transfer after his contract with Al-Taawoun expired.
Kuwait SC also signed Brazilian duo Patrick Robson and Senegalese player Amath Ndiaw during the current summer transfer window, while club officials renewed the contracts of Yemeni player Nasser Mohammedwah and Algerian player Idriss Chaabi.
In a related development, Al-Arabi’s first team will resume training tomorrow, Thursday, at its camp in Turkey, after the technical staff, led by Croatian coach Goran Sablic, limited players to rehabilitation sessions.
The camp is part of Al-Ahmar’s preparations to face Indian side East Bengal on August 12 in the AFC Champions League Two qualifying playoff.
Al-Arabi played two friendly matches on consecutive days, today and yesterday, drawing 1-1 with Turkish club Van Spor in the first, before securing a 4-0 victory over Amkar Pecs in the second.
The Al-Arabi technical staff expressed satisfaction with the players’ performance during the camp, noting a noticeable improvement in technical standards and a significant enhancement in physical fitness levels, which has boosted confidence among both the technical and administrative staff ahead of the next phase of preparations.
