China to Sell $2.2 Billion in Bonds in August

China’s Ministry of Finance announced on Wednesday its intention to issue the fourth tranche of yuan-denominated treasury bonds in Hong Kong on August 5 of this year.
In a statement relayed by the Xinhua News Agency, the ministry said the new tranche is valued at approximately $2.2 billion (15 billion yuan).
The issuance is part of the Chinese government’s program to issue yuan-denominated treasury bonds in the Hong Kong market in 2026, aimed at supporting the development of the yuan bond market and enhancing the city’s status as an international financial center.
