The Executive Office of the Qatar Football Association approved today, Tuesday, the appointment of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani as President of the Association and Sheikh Tamim bin Mohammed Al Thani as Vice President, to complete the current term of the Board of Directors until 2027. The decision will be ratified during the General Assembly scheduled to be held next September.

This decision came during a meeting of the Executive Office to discuss measures and decisions related to the upcoming football season and the appropriate mechanism for completing the current term, following the resignation of Jassem bin Rashid Al Buainain from the position of President and Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Suwaidi from the position of Vice President. Previously, the Executive Office had held a meeting in which the two members ran for the vacant seats in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Several decisions were taken during the meeting, the most prominent of which were the introduction of a Third Division league alongside the Doha Bank League and the Second Division, as well as approving the participation of Al-Riffa SC in youth category competitions starting from the current season.
