Daraish: Minor Worries (In the Words of an Ordinary Citizen in Iran)

What matters to me in this house is the magnitude of the issues,

Not politics or the greed for positions.

I stand in line among the victims,

Watching officials disburse salaries.

War throws me with an arrow of death,

Yet I remain resigned to what God has decreed and written.

Those who appointed me do not trust my intentions,

And I cannot complain to the elders or reproach them.

They dismiss my words as “shuffling between corners,”

And my talk of negotiation, newspapers, and offices!
