Hanaa Al-Mutairi: Girls' Summer Robotics Club Develops Skills in Programming and Innovation
Hanaa Al-Mutairi, head of the Girls’ Summer Robotics Club, stated that the club, one of the evening summer clubs affiliated with the Ministry of Education, enjoys the attention and support of the Minister of Education, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to providing an advanced educational environment that utilizes students’ free time during the summer break and develops their skills in technology and innovation.
Al-Mutairi noted that the club is witnessing growing interest, with the number of registered learners exceeding 175 so far. She added that the club offers specialized programs and activities in educational robotics, following a structured plan approved by the Computer Technical Guidance Administration, enabling trainees to acquire technical knowledge and skills through diverse practical and applied experiments.
She further explained that the club relies on qualified Kuwaiti national cadres who demonstrate a high level of competence, professionalism, and responsibility. All trainers have undergone specialized training programs in safety and security procedures and emergency response mechanisms, ensuring a safe educational environment that safeguards the well-being of learners throughout their participation in club activities.
Al-Mutairi clarified that the program includes organizing weekly competitions aimed at enhancing logical thinking, programming, and problem-solving skills. These competitions involve programming line-following robots, sumo robots, and a maze-specific robot, thereby preparing learners to participate in technical competitions and developing their capabilities in robotics.
She indicated that this week’s activities focus on training learners to assemble the mechanical and electronic components of educational robots, thereby strengthening the practical aspect and bridging theoretical concepts with hands-on experiments. She added that the end of the summer season will feature a meeting bringing together the Girls’ Robotics Club and the Boys’ Robotics Club, including competitions and practical challenges that showcase the skills participants have acquired during the training period. She confirmed that the club will continue to accept learners until August 31, coinciding with the end of the summer break.
