Municipality Approves Plot Numbering in Fintas, Hawalli, Al-Ruqa'i, and Ghabra
The Municipal Council held its 24th ordinary session of the fourth sitting period today, presided over by Vice President Khaled Al-Mutairi. This was the final session before the council’s scheduled summer recess, which runs from August 2 to September 9. Ten members attended out of a total of 16.
During the session, the council approved the numbering of plots in the Fintas area of Ahmadi Governorate, and in Hawalli Governorate, confirming there are 12 plots. It also approved plot numbering in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Riqqi areas of Farwaniya Governorate.
The council approved a request from the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy to allocate a site for a secondary substation in Salwa, Plot No. 2, covering an area of 84 square meters. It also approved a request from the Experts Administration at the Ministry of Justice to allocate a building in the Riqqi area, covering 2,400 square meters.
Additionally, the council approved two requests from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. The first concerns the allocation of a mosque in the South Al-Sabahia area, covering 625 square meters, along with parking spaces covering 1,094 square meters. The second involves allocating a residential site for the Imam and the Muazzin (caller to prayer) in Al-Jahra, Plot No. 93, covering 300 square meters.
The council also approved a request from the Ministry of Interior to re-allocate a site belonging to the Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of Cabinet Resolutions Related to Security Affairs, located in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area, with a total area of 7,000 square meters. Furthermore, it approved an amendment to Item 3 of Municipal Council Resolution dated July 7, 2008, regarding the reservation of a portion of the Al-Aman area in the Zour Refinery zone.
Following deliberations and discussions lasting approximately half an hour between Council Member Nasser Al-Jadaan, the Municipality’s Legal Advisor Hussain Al-Ajmi, and representatives of the executive body, the council addressed four appeals regarding four properties in Salwa submitted by a contracting company. All appeals were met with a decision to temporarily suspend the company due to violations in properties completed by it. The council decided to refer the cases to the Council’s Legal and Financial Committee for review and to verify whether the contractor is the same entity as the engineering office supervising the non-compliant properties. If it is proven that they are the same, the case will be referred to the relevant authority to take legal action against the violator. The council also referred the item concerning the formation of a committee to inspect properties in Salwa, Plot 6, Plots 247, 246, 245, and 244, to the Legal and Financial Committee of the Municipality for study and appropriate action.
Finally, the council referred to the executive body a proposal submitted by Member Abdul Latif Al-Duaiji regarding the issuance of standardized contract models approved by the Municipality between owners and contractors for private residential construction and demolition projects, to ensure the rights of both parties, for study and technical opinion.
