Djoumandi moves closer to a transfer to Real Madrid

Ivorian rising star Yank Diomandé headed to RB Leipzig’s training academy on Monday morning, accompanied by the rest of the players returning from the World Cup, to begin the team’s preparations for the upcoming season.

Renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specializes in transfer news, confirmed that Diomandé is on his way to the royal club, while the German News Agency (dpa) reported that there has been no official confirmation from Leipzig so far, as many negotiating details remain pending between the parties involved.

Diomandé is expected to join the royal club for a deal exceeding 100 million euros (approximately $114 million), with a contract running until the summer of 2031, although neither club has issued an official statement on the matter.

Leipzig had previously wanted to retain their young star for at least one more season, having rejected a 100 million euro offer from English club Liverpool during the World Cup, as well as an initial offer from Real Madrid for the same amount.

However, Leipzig’s management may reconsider its stance and agree to Diomandé’s departure if they receive an offer of at least 120 million euros, given the lucrative profit margin on a player the club signed just a year ago for 20 million euros from Spanish second-division side Leganés.
