Al-Sharq: Lifting economic sanctions imposed on Syria will not be fully effective

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa stated in an interview with Al Jazeera that the former regime marginalized the eastern region, despite its abundance of human, oil, and agricultural resources, and that the road connecting Damascus and Deir ez-Zor is one-way, adding that they are striving to build a new road.

He continued: Investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the incident on the Damascus–Deir ez-Zor road, with probabilities suggesting it was accidental. He emphasized that lifting the economic sanctions imposed on Syria would not be fully effective unless its name is removed from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
