Electricity Authority: Execution of fiber optic cable extension works between stations in 27 areas

The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy announced the continuation of work to lay fiber optic cables between existing main substations, as part of a developmental project aligned with Kuwait’s national development plan. The project aims to upgrade infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of the communication and control systems within the electricity grid.

The Ministry clarified that the project requires excavation and backfilling operations at several locations from today until August 1, emphasizing that these works will not disrupt the continuity of electricity services.

The Ministry urged road users and residents of affected areas to comply with traffic guidelines and cooperate with work teams to ensure the project is completed according to the specified schedule. It reiterated that these efforts are part of its initiatives to modernize the communication network of the electricity system and improve its operational efficiency.

In a related development, the Central Tenders Board approved the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy’s request to publish Amendment No. 2 to the tender for the supply and installation of three main 11/132 kV substations for the cloud data centers project in various parts of the country, along with their feeders and accessories. The closing date for the tender has been extended by one week.
