Houthi militia suffers heavy strikes in Marib and Al-Jawf after Al-Hudaydah
Amid its efforts to open a new front to support Iran in its war with the United States and its attempt to close the Bab al-Mandab strait, the Houthi militias received a strong blow today in the provinces of Marib and Al-Jawf, hours after the Coalition for Legitimacy Support carried out a military response against legitimate targets in Al-Hudaydah province.
Yemeni television announced that precise airstrikes targeted reinforcements for the Iran-backed Houthi militias in the districts of Al-Jubah, Al-Safra, and Majzar in Marib and Al-Jawf provinces. It specified that the strikes focused on rocket launch platforms and a Katyusha launch base, as well as weapons depots, combat vehicles, and sites for transporting supplies and military equipment. Military sources were quoted as saying the airstrikes significantly impacted the Houthis’ ability to carry out operations, caused confusion within their ranks, and inflicted heavy losses in equipment and lives.
Earlier, Turkish Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Coalition for Legitimacy Support, stated in a statement that the Houthi militia committed a cowardly and reckless act by targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea, emphasizing that the coalition would continue to take all measures to protect ships and Saudi interests, and would respond to any hostile acts without leniency.
Al-Maliki confirmed that the coalition carried out a firm and strong response against legitimate military targets linked to the threat to ships in the Red Sea, noting that the operation concluded by achieving the principle of proportionality and the planned operational objectives. He pointed out that the coalition did not target the port of Al-Hudaydah, clarifying that all Yemeni ports, including Al-Hudaydah, Ras Isa, and Al-Salif, remain open to maritime navigation and are receiving ships, as are Yemeni airports.
The Yemeni government affirmed that the coalition’s firm military response in Al-Hudaydah was part of joint efforts to combat terrorism, protect international navigation and the security of sea lanes, and deter criminal activities targeting civilian ships. It strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s terrorist attack in the Red Sea, reiterating its determination to undermine all de-escalation efforts and drag Yemen into conflicts that have no connection to the interests of its people.
Earlier, an official in the Saudi Transport Authority announced that the ship “Masa” was targeted while sailing in the Red Sea yesterday, resulting in minor damage to its hull. The ship continued its voyage to its destination after its safety and the safety of its crew members were confirmed.
In the context of Houthi escalation, the Iran-aligned terrorist group announced it had carried out an attack on “sensitive targets” belonging to Aramco in the cities of Jizan and Yanbu.
Meanwhile, the Greek army stated that a Patriot system, operated by Saudi Arabia since 2021, destroyed a drone over the Yanbu area today in accordance with its rules of engagement. It also intercepted two ballistic missiles launched from Yemen toward oil refineries in Yanbu.
Following early warnings issued in Yanbu and Jizan, the Saudi Civil Defense announced today that the threat had passed in both areas, urging citizens and residents to comply with official instructions.
The Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al-Jaber, accused the Houthis on the night of Friday-Saturday of continuing escalation and violence to serve “external agendas unrelated to Yemen and not in its interest,” emphasizing that peace will not be achieved through slogans or political evasion, but through a sincere will that places the interests of Yemen and its people above all else, and rejects violence, subservience, and external agendas that have prolonged the conflict and exacerbated the suffering of millions.
Al-Jaber wrote: “Saudi Arabia has sought, and continues to seek, to support all efforts toward de-escalation and peace, and to back the efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen to reach a comprehensive political solution that ends the suffering of the Yemeni people. It will continue to support initiatives aimed at resuming flights through Sana’a airport, alongside facilitating the entry of ships into the port of Hodeidah, while the Houthi militia continues its cowardly attacks on ships, threatening international navigation and regional security.”
For his part, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad al-Alimi warned the Houthi group today of the consequences of continuing escalation and gambling with the Yemeni people’s interests to serve the agendas of the Iranian regime. He stressed that continuing this destructive approach will only prolong suffering and squander what remains of Yemen’s resources, and will not change Yemenis’ conviction that the coup must be ended and state institutions restored. Al-Alimi said that the Yemeni government is proceeding with close cooperation with the coalition supporting legitimacy and its partners in the international community, to achieve firm deterrence against threats, protect waterways, and combat terrorism, smuggling, and organized crime, considering this a national responsibility and a firm commitment to the security of Yemen and the region, as well as to safeguarding international peace and security.
