"Blue Basket Youth" Lose to Oman in Gulf Championship Opener

Kuwait’s youth national basketball team lost to their Omani counterparts 59-62 in a match played today, Saturday, as part of the opening round of the Gulf Youth Championship, which serves as a qualifier for the Asian Youth Championship finals. The tournament is currently being held in the Qatari capital, Doha, and will run until July 30.
With the result, Oman secured two points for the win and topped the tournament standings, while Kuwait settled for a single point, pending the outcome of the second match later today between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in the first round.
In the second round on Sunday, Kuwait’s youth team will face Bahrain, while the host nation, Qatar, will take on Saudi Arabia.
The tournament is being played in a single-round robin format, with the top two teams qualifying directly for the Asian Youth Championship finals, scheduled to be held in India in late August next month.
