Chile's Colo-Colo signs Cape Verde goalkeeper Fozia

Chilean club Colo-Colo announced on Saturday that it has reached a near-final agreement to sign veteran goalkeeper Fousinia in the coming days, pending an official announcement of the deal.

Club president Anibal Musa confirmed that an agreement with the Cape Verde national team goalkeeper is ready, with only a few final routine details remaining after receiving official confirmation from the goalkeeper’s representatives.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper, who was selected in the All-Star Team of the World Cup, is currently without a club following the expiration of his contract with Chaves, which competes in the Portuguese second division.

The Spanish newspaper Marca quoted Colo-Colo’s president as saying that signing Fousinia is not merely a marketing move, but is due to his high physical readiness and the outstanding level he displayed at the World Cup. Meanwhile, team coach Fernando Ortiz emphasized that the new goalkeeper will have to compete with others to secure a place in the starting lineup.
