Andrea Pirlo, New Coach of the Italian National Team

Andrea Pirlo is set to be announced as the new head coach of the Italian national football team tomorrow or the day after, following agreement on the details of a four-year contract with an annual salary of 1.5 million euros, according to several local reports in recent hours.

Italian media have been confident since Friday afternoon that the deal with Pirlo has been finalized. He was the third choice, behind Spain’s Pep Guardiola and Italy’s Carlo Ancelotti, who is currently the coach of Brazil.

According to Italian media, including the website Football Italia, Pirlo agreed to take on the role immediately after receiving a call from Paolo Maldini and Tarek El Yamiq.

Reports indicate that Pirlo will sign a contract running until the end of the 2030 World Cup, with the 47-year-old’s annual salary expected to reach approximately 1.5 million euros.

Pirlo remains under contract with UAE-based club United FC, so he must first terminate this agreement by mutual consent.

Pirlo began his coaching career with Juventus Under-23s, then managed the first team from August 2020 to May 2021. He coached Turkish club Fatih Karagümrük from June 2022 to May 2023, Italian side Sampdoria from June 2023 to August 2024, before moving to the UAE club.
