Sudanese Army Takes Control of Um Seala Area in Northern Kordofan

The government of North Kordofan state and the state security committee condemned in a press release the “treacherous” attack that occurred on Thursday, describing it as a “blatant violation of international humanitarian law, customs, and values” because it targeted defenseless civilians. They noted that the “attacking force looted a number of livestock heads and terrorized the peaceful population.”

The state government affirmed that the “armed forces and regular forces moved immediately to pursue the attacking elements, succeeded in repelling them and forcing them to flee, before reasserting full control over the area and securing it, while search and pursuit operations continue to prevent any threat to citizens’ security.”

In a related development, local sources reported that a Rapid Support Forces convoy shelled water stations supplying several towns in the Rheid al-Nuba area of North Kordofan state, a region close to the border with Khartoum state.
