At least 19 killed in bus collision in Syria

At least 19 people were killed and around 30 others injured in a bus collision on a highway in a desert area in eastern Syria, according to state television on Saturday.

The channel reported “the death of 19 people and the injury of 27 others in an initial tally of a collision between two passenger buses on the Damascus–Deir ez-Zor highway between the areas of Sukhnah and Palmyra.”

The Ministry of the Interior stated that the accident occurred between “a bus carrying several members of the Internal Security Forces and a civilian bus,” without providing figures on casualties among its own forces.
