Al-Mushaan: Preventive diplomacy is one of the pillars of Kuwait's foreign policy

This came during a speech delivered by the Kuwaiti official at a meeting held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), held on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meetings.

He added that the true success of diplomacy is not measured solely by the conflicts it manages to resolve, but also by the crises it prevents before they occur, considering this to be the quiet achievement of preventive diplomacy, which has proven its importance today as it did when the Treaty of Amity was adopted in 1976.

He expressed pride in Kuwait’s accession to this treaty, which embodies shared principles based on dialogue, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence, calling for building upon the legacy established over the past five decades through strengthening practical measures of preventive diplomacy to help prevent conflicts from escalating.

Furthermore, Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Al-Mushaan emphasized, at the conclusion of his speech, the importance of supporting mediation and dialogue efforts to contribute to consolidating sustainable peace and security.
