Georgia: Power outages hit large parts

A power outage struck large parts of Georgia, including the capital, Tbilisi, and major cities such as Kutaisi and Batumi, according to local media reports early Friday morning.

The cause of the outage remains unclear, as does the extent of any damage. No comments have been issued by authorities so far.

Georgia has long struggled with energy supply issues, and a widespread blackout hit the country last year, while most of its infrastructure is outdated.
