UK raises travel advisory level for Kuwait

The ministry clarified in a statement that its decision comes amid ongoing regional instability, noting that despite the United States and Iran announcing the signing of a memorandum of understanding on June 17 concerning the Middle East crisis, the situation remains unpredictable.

It added that since the 8th, the region has witnessed reciprocal attacks and strikes by Iran targeting several sites, including Kuwait, affecting military and civilian infrastructure linked to the United States, warning of the possibility of further attacks or sudden escalation.

The British Foreign Office confirmed that the Iranian regime had announced before the ceasefire its intention to target sites, facilities, and institutions linked to the United States and Israel.

It also advised following the instructions of local authorities, monitoring local and international media for the latest developments, staying away from security and military installations, reviewing departure plans and ensuring the validity of travel documents, taking shelter in safe buildings when instructed, and avoiding any debris from drones, missiles, or suspicious objects.

The British Foreign Office noted that Kuwait International Airport is currently operating through Terminals 4 (T4) and 5 (T5), designated for Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways flights, while Terminal 1 (T1) remains closed, with flight schedules continuing to be reduced. It urged travelers to contact airlines before traveling and to follow local instructions.

The ministry emphasized that travel under current conditions cannot be considered entirely safe, and advised obtaining suitable travel insurance that covers the travel itinerary, planned activities, and emergency expenses.
