Al-Shabab Al-Salla opens its campaign at Al-Khalijiya tomorrow

The Kuwait youth national basketball team begins its campaign in the Gulf Youth Championship, which serves as a qualifier for the Asian finals, at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday against Oman. This will be followed at 6:00 p.m. by another match in the first round of the tournament, featuring Saudi Arabia against Bahrain. The championship is being hosted in the Qatari capital, Doha, until July 30.

Kuwait’s youth team aims to secure a strong and ideal start by claiming its first two points in the tournament standings, overcoming Oman, which enters the match with high ambitions to counter Kuwait’s aspirations and secure a victory to bolster its chances of competing for top positions in the championship.

Serbian coach Mako and his Kuwaiti assistant, Yahiya Al-Bahr, place great hope in the players’ impressive level, which they reached after an external training camp in Cairo. The technical staff focused on developing collective performance and diversifying playing methods between organized defense and attack.

Mako will rely on advanced team play to disrupt opponents, fast breaks, and rapid transitions from defense to attack through long passes and wing play, with an emphasis on three-point shooting.

In contrast, Oman will seek to contain Kuwait by relying on a solid defense under the basket, while attempting to exploit fast counterattacks to score points and secure the win.
