Ministry of Social Affairs and the National Bank: Support for a Smart Project to Enhance Communication with the Hearing Impaired

Dr. Dalal Al-Othaiman, Director General of the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities, held discussions with a delegation from National Bank of Kuwait regarding the implementation of a technical project to enhance communication accessibility for persons with hearing disabilities, supported by the bank.

In a press statement today, the Authority said the meeting reviewed a smart device project that leverages Avatar technology and artificial intelligence to facilitate communication between customers and staff through sign language.

It added that the meeting also discussed providing these devices at the Authority’s headquarters and at several branches of the National Bank, thereby contributing to improving the quality of services provided to persons with hearing disabilities and facilitating their access to these services.

On another front, the Authority for Persons with Disabilities hosted a coordination meeting with the University of Kuwait to explore ways to strengthen cooperation and develop initiatives supporting persons with disabilities in academic and training fields.

The Authority stated in a press release that the meeting, chaired by Dr. Al-Othaiman and attended by sector deputies and a university delegation, addressed measures to adapt the university environment for students with disabilities, thereby enhancing their integration and enabling them to continue their educational journey in a suitable academic setting.
