As competition intensifies for leadership in the Islamic debt markets, Bitam Capital, the investment arm of Kuwait Finance House (KFH), is firmly establishing itself as one of the sector’s key players. In the first half of 2026, the firm facilitated, managed, and issued sukuk totaling over $15 billion for governments, major corporations, and institutions, with broad participation from prominent investors at local, regional, and global levels.

Mohammed Hamad Al-Hajri, Head of Investment Banking Services at Bitam Capital, stated that this performance is a true reflection of the company’s rising stature in regional and international capital markets, and its ability to provide innovative, Sharia-compliant financing and investment solutions that meet issuers’ aspirations and attract a wide range of investors worldwide.

Al-Hajri noted that the company’s success in these landmark issuances is measured not only by deal size but also by execution efficiency, the breadth of its investor base, and the growing trust it enjoys from both issuers and funding sources. This reinforces its position in the regional and global sukuk and debt instruments market.

He added that these results have placed KFH at the forefront of organizers at the local level and ranked fifth globally among the top sukuk arrangers worldwide. This achievement is the result of deep expertise accumulated over the years and a specialized team that combines execution efficiency with a profound understanding of complex deal structuring, thereby solidifying the confidence of issuers and investors and underscoring the company’s pivotal role in developing the Sharia-compliant debt instruments market.

For his part, Khaled Khalil Al-Shami, First Vice President of Capital Markets for Debt Instruments at Bitam Capital, highlighted that what distinguishes the firm’s deals since the beginning of the year is their remarkable diversity geographically, across maturities, and across multiple sectors. These included local, regional, and international issuances for governments, banks, and companies in the energy, utilities, mining, real estate, and healthcare sectors.

Regarding sovereign issuances, the company completed the issuance of sukuk for the Republic of Turkey, valued at $2.75 billion with a six-year maturity, making it one of the largest deals of the year, alongside a $1 billion issuance for the Turkish Petroleum Corporation with a five-year maturity. The banking sector also saw a strong presence, with Bitam Capital contributing to the issuance of $1 billion in five-year sukuk for Kuwait Finance House, as well as the first local Kuwaiti dinar-denominated sukuk for the first capital tranche for the bank, valued at 200 million dinars. Additionally, the firm assisted in arranging First Abu Dhabi Bank’s $650 million issuance, Dubai Islamic Bank’s $1 billion first-tranche sukuk, and Qatar Islamic Bank’s $750 million five-year issuance.

Saudi companies were not left out of this momentum. Bitam Capital participated in two issuances for Saudi Telecom Company (stc), totaling $2 billion across two tranches with five- and ten-year maturities, alongside three tranches for Saudi Electricity Company with varying maturities, totaling over $2.4 billion. It also contributed to an issuance for Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) valued at $1 billion with a ten-year maturity. In the Sultanate of Oman, the company assisted in an issuance for Oman Oil Marketing Company valued at $650 million with a ten-year maturity.

Al Futtaim Capital’s presence also extended to the Arab Energy Fund, in which the company participated in two separate issuances totaling $1 billion, alongside a $650 million issuance for Turkish real estate firm Emlak Konut. In the UAE, the first sukuk issuance for leading healthcare sector player Burjeel Holdings, valued at $500 million, marked a significant addition to the company’s track record, reflecting the broadening range of sectors it serves.

Al Shammi added that this momentum of landmark transactions, characterized by their geographic and sectoral diversity, as well as their varied investor segments and tenors, clearly demonstrates Al Futtaim Capital’s ability to execute complex issuances and attract the confidence of major investors, reinforcing its position as a pivotal player in global sukuk markets.
