Kuwaiti MPs approve $95 billion to fund war against Iran

The U.S. House of Representatives approved, on Wednesday, a budget bill worth $95 billion with Republican support alone, in an attempt that appears to have limited chances of success to fund the war with Iran and other White House priorities, despite opposition from Democrats and a small number of Republicans, in a final push before the midterm elections.

Republicans in the House were divided over the plan, with conservatives expressing reservations due to the absence of corresponding cuts in budget provisions. However, House Speaker Mike Johnson pressed ahead with the plan, arguing that pursuing it unilaterally offers the best opportunity to advance President Donald Trump’s priorities through the divided Congress, despite doubts in the Senate.

The vote result was 216 in favor and 214 against, with all Democrats opposing the plan.

Democrats pointed out that the funds should be spent domestically, particularly on efforts to reduce the cost of living for Americans.
