Prime Minister: Athletes' Achievements a Source of Pride for Kuwait

Under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, the Ministry of State for Youth and Sports Affairs hosted today the National Honoring Ceremony for champions of the national teams, both male and female, for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 sports seasons, at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre.

In a press statement after the ceremony, His Highness emphasized that the achievements of the national team champions represent a source of pride and honor, reflecting the spirit of determination and resolve embodied by Kuwaiti youth, and highlighting their outstanding efforts in representing their country and raising its name and flag at various international sporting arenas.

The Prime Minister stated that this honoring ceremony is a tribute to the significant efforts exerted by the athletes, as well as the technical and administrative staff, which yielded results and accomplishments that elevated Kuwait’s name in regional and international sporting events. He affirmed that the government places great importance on Kuwaiti sports and is committed to providing a supportive environment that enables athletes to continue excelling and achieving further successes.

He added that investing in the potential of young Kuwaitis constitutes a fundamental pillar for building a promising future for sports in Kuwait, expressing his pride and honor in the achievements of Kuwaitis who have attained such prestigious positions.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Hamad Al-Jalahma, delivered a speech in which he stressed that honoring our athletes today is a recognition of their effort, dedication, and a message of pride in the accomplishments we all cherish. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing support for athletes and providing an appropriate environment that enables them to develop their capabilities and realize their aspirations, thereby enhancing Kuwait’s standing on the sporting stage.

In his address, the Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, Bishr Abdullah Al-Salem, noted that today’s honoring of athletes is not merely a celebration, but a message of gratitude, appreciation, and pride to all athletes across all sports disciplines for their efforts and achievements, in their strive to raise the Kuwaiti flag at international events.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Hamad Al-Jalahma; the Chairperson of Salwa Al-Sabah Sports Club, Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; the Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, Bishr Abdullah Al-Salem; numerous heads of federations, clubs, and sports committees; and senior officials from the Public Authority for Youth and Sports.
