Al-Hawila: Activating the role of the Women's Affairs Committee to enhance the status and empowerment of Kuwaiti women

Al-Hawila emphasized during the meeting the importance of activating the committee’s role as a national platform for unifying efforts among relevant entities, working to study issues related to women, reviewing relevant legislation and decisions, identifying legislative, regulatory, and procedural challenges they face, and proposing appropriate solutions and recommendations to enhance women’s rights and elevate their participation across various sectors.

She noted that the committee would monitor international indicators and reports related to women, study ways to improve Kuwait’s ranking in these assessments, prepare a national registry of female leaders and initiatives, highlight the achievements of Kuwaiti women, and strengthen their presence in decision-making and sustainable development positions, within a framework of coordination and integration with government entities, in line with the designated responsibilities of each entity.

The meeting reviewed the committee’s mandate, discussed its action plan for the coming phase, and determined its executive priorities, foremost among which are reviewing legislation and policies related to women’s affairs, identifying legislative, regulatory, and procedural challenges, monitoring relevant international indicators and reports, and proposing initiatives and recommendations that contribute to raising Kuwait’s ranking and improving its performance in international indicators concerning women, thereby enhancing the empowerment of Kuwaiti women and elevating their participation across various fields.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Hawila affirmed that empowering Kuwaiti women constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of sustainable development and receives the attention and support of the political leadership. She stressed the Ministry’s commitment to working in partnership with all government entities to achieve tangible results that enhance women’s status and improve Kuwait’s performance in relevant international indicators, wishing the committee success and prosperity in carrying out its duties.
