Medical Sciences Union in Ireland: We Support Students on Overseas Scholarships
The Kuwait Medical Sciences Students Union in Ireland organized an informational session yesterday for students interested in pursuing medical specialties in Ireland, held at the National Library and attended by a select group of doctors and academics specializing in awareness and guidance campaigns.
Yousef Al-Tammar, head of the Freshmen Committee at the Union, stated in his address that the annual informational meeting for students admitted to study medical specialties in Ireland is part of the Union’s efforts to educate and raise awareness among students, explain the procedures to be followed before departure, and introduce them to Irish culture and how to interact with locals to avoid any obstacles or problems. He emphasized that sponsored students have an urgent need to familiarize themselves with the cultures of the countries where they will study.
He noted that organizing these sessions began in 2018 and continue to promote cultural awareness and provide guidance to students, adding that some students accept admission unexpectedly and without prior planning, which necessitates their attendance at these meetings to learn many details.
He mentioned that Union members are constantly available to support students in Ireland through various communication channels dedicated to serving them and providing proper guidance that contributes to the success of their educational experience.
For his part, Union member Mohammed Al-Awadi discussed daily life in Ireland, outlining the main available transportation options, methods of travel between different destinations, and the process of reaching required locations, while highlighting differences among transport modes in terms of costs and travel duration.
In her turn, student Lulwa Al-Rifai addressed some details and challenges that Kuwaiti sponsored students might face, briefly explaining the procedures that sponsored students should follow during their stay in Ireland to facilitate their academic and living experiences.
