Al-Qadisiya requests to host its group in the "Asian Challenge"
The board of directors of Al-Qadsieh Club has submitted a request to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), through the Kuwait Football Association, to host the Yellow Team’s matches in the AFC Challenge League group stage. The club will participate in the tournament starting from the group stage after finishing third in the Zain Premier League.
The group stage draw is scheduled to take place on August 20 at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
In the coming days, an AFC delegation will visit to inspect the candidate stadiums for hosting the matches, including Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium, and Naif Al-Dbous Stadium, before a final decision is made regarding whether Al-Qadsieh will be entrusted with organizing the group under AFC supervision.
In the previous edition of the tournament, Al-Kuwait Club hosted its group, which the White Team won to claim the title, while Al-Arabi hosted its group in the edition prior to that.
On another note, the senior football team delegation will depart for Turkey at 10:00 AM today for a training camp running until August 18. The camp will include six friendly matches against Arab and Turkish clubs, with some fixtures to be announced next week.
The delegation is headed by Salman Al-Kandari, a member of Al-Qadsieh’s board of directors. Coach Mohamed Ibrahim will join the team at the Turkish camp, arriving from London, the UK capital.
Omani international Abdulrahman Al-Mashfari will travel with the delegation, while Moroccan international Hamza Khaba and Nigerian Gabriel Urok will join the team at the camp at the beginning of next week.
The squad selected by the technical staff includes new arrivals such as goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Kandari, Badr Jamal, and Sultan Al-Faraj. Meanwhile, the departure of goalkeeper Saud Al-Qanaei remains uncertain.
Al-Qadsieh’s training sessions resumed last Sunday under the supervision of assistant coach Saleh Al-Sheikh, who has been working since the first day to improve the players’ physical fitness.
The Turkish camp will focus on both technical and physical aspects. Morning sessions will be dedicated to fitness training in the weight room at the delegation’s accommodation, while evening sessions will feature technical drills on the pitch.
Meanwhile, as previously reported, Eid Al-Rashidi has returned to team training. The board of directors has not received an offer from Egyptian club ZED, as recently rumored. Should an official offer for the player materialize, the decision will rest with the board of directors in coordination with the football department and the technical staff.
