Modric agrees to extend his contract with Milan

Several sources reported that Croatian midfielder Luka Modric will sign a one-year contract extension with Italian club Milan, as expected, just weeks before he turns 41.

The Croatian international had previously stated he was uncertain about his next career move ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with retirement being a distinct possibility.

Nevertheless, he has decided not only to continue playing but also to compete at the highest level with Milan, according to reports from the Italian newspaper Football Italia.

Earlier reports indicated that a new one-year contract would likely be signed this week, probably on Wednesday, and it now appears events are unfolding as planned.

Modric made 37 appearances for Milan during his first season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
