Bezos asks to join the Patia alliance to buy a stake in Liverpool

Jeffrey Bezos, one of the world’s wealthiest men, could become part of the group led by John Textor, brother-in-law to billionaire and steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal.
Sky News reported that Bezos is interested in the deal but indicated that he has not yet made a final decision to proceed with the potential plan. Forbes magazine estimates the 62-year-old American’s wealth at approximately £192 billion ($257 billion).
Reports suggest that Bezos previously considered submitting bids to purchase the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL), but ultimately decided not to pursue either deal.
Textor’s interest in Liverpool came on the same day he stepped down from the board of directors of Queens Park Rangers.
The 46-year-old Textor ended his 18-year association with the English Championship club by transferring his stake to majority owner Robin Kynaston.
In 2023, Fenway Sports Group sold a minority stake in Liverpool to the investment firm Dynasty, and any deal with Textor’s consortium, if completed, is expected to follow the same approach.
According to the Financial Times, any deal with the Textor-led consortium would value Liverpool at more than $6 billion.
Fenway Sports Group, which also owns the Boston Red Sox baseball team, purchased Liverpool in 2010 for £300 million.
