Calm prevails in the stock market... liquidity drops to 57.8 million dinars

Kuwait Stock Exchange indicators showed limited divergence today during the penultimate trading session of the week. The main index managed to achieve slight gains, while both the First Market and General Market indices recorded minor declines, amid a prevailing sense of anticipation among traders.

The session was characterized by relative calm. Although some stocks posted notable gains, these increases were driven by limited trading volumes, reflecting continued caution among investors.

Notably, circulating liquidity fell by 25.8 percent to reach 57.8 million dinars, compared to 78 million dinars at the close of yesterday’s session.

The Main Market outperformed the First Market by capturing the largest share of this liquidity, accounting for 53 percent, while the First Market took the remaining 47 percent.

The stock exchange still lacks the catalysts that could support trading activity in the current period. Investors are awaiting the first-half results of listed companies, as well as the evolution of the regional situation and its potential repercussions on the markets.

A total of 132 stocks were traded; 47 rose, 55 fell, and prices remained stable for 30 stocks. Weighted indices rose for seven sectors in the market, led by the Basic Materials sector with a 2.43 percent increase and the Energy sector with a 1.48 percent gain. Conversely, indices fell for six sectors, led by the Technology sector with a 3.03 percent decline and the Consumer Goods sector with a 1.45 percent drop.

In terms of index performance details, the General Market Index fell by approximately 4.21 points, equivalent to 0.05 percent, to reach a level of 8,616 points. A volume of 259.2 million shares was traded through 16,362 deals.

The First Market Index also declined by approximately 10.48 points, or 0.12 percent, to reach 9,029 points. This session saw liquidity valued at 26.9 million dinars, with trading volumes of 60.91 million shares executed through 6,618 deals.

Meanwhile, the Main Index rose by approximately 24.19 points, or 0.28 percent, closing at 8,777 points. The traded value amounted to 30.9 million dinars, with a trading volume of 198.3 million shares executed through 9,744 deals.

Regarding the most traded stocks by value, Al-Safwa stock ranked first with a value of 7.4 million dinars, reaching a price of 198 fils. It was followed by National Bank of Kuwait with 5.1 million dinars, reaching 811 fils, then Byblos Bank with 4.1 million dinars, closing at 768 fils, and National Company for Trading with 2.6 million dinars, reaching 140 fils. Fifth place went to Trade Company with 2.6 million dinars, reaching 188 fils.

Al-Kout stock topped the list of the most rising stocks with a 13.18 percent increase, trading 2,300 shares to reach 850 fils. It was followed by Imtiyaz with a 9.86 percent rise, trading only 100 shares to reach 379 fils, then Sakb with a 7.11 percent increase, trading 466,400 shares to reach 482 fils, and Al-Taqaddum with a 7.02 percent rise, trading 2,000 shares to reach 549 fils. Fifth place went to Petrochemicals with a 6.45 percent increase, trading 10,500 shares to reach 660 fils.

On the other hand, Midan stock recorded a decline of 4.98 percent, topping the list of the most falling stocks. It traded only 11 shares to reach a price of 974 fils. It was followed by Argan with a 3.28 percent drop, trading 2.9 million shares to fall to 118 fils, then Al-Anzima with a 3.03 percent decline, trading 698,700 shares to close at 703 fils, and Osool with a 3.03 percent drop, trading 281,600 shares to fall to 256 fils. Fifth place went to Sahel with a 2.45 percent decline, trading approximately 3.9 million shares to close at 75.5 fils.
