Saudi Cabinet: We will take necessary measures to protect our ships

Saudi Arabia renewed on Tuesday its resolve to take firm measures to protect its security and shipping following statements by the so-called military spokesperson for the Houthi terrorist militia, who declared a blockade on maritime navigation for the Saudi side.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) after the weekly Saudi cabinet meeting chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz in Jeddah on Tuesday, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and Acting Minister of Media, Engineer Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi, clarified that “the Council followed up on developments in the region and their repercussions on international peace and security.”

Expressing “in this context its strongest condemnation of the false claims and baseless accusations by the Houthi terrorist militia, and its involvement in the regional conflict to advance its sinister agenda and objectives, which has contributed to deepening the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people and threatening regional security and stability,” he reiterated “the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued support for the brotherly Yemeni people and its legitimate government.”

The Acting Saudi Minister of Media further stated in his statement that “the Council reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s solidarity and full support for Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan in the measures they are taking in response to the brazen Iranian aggression, which violates international law and principles of good neighborliness, and emphasized the importance of an immediate halt to all forms of military escalation to preserve the stability of the countries and peoples of the region.”
