Kuwait University and the American University of Beirut sign a memorandum of understanding to enhance academic cooperation and vocational training

Kuwait Airways signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the American University in Kuwait (AUK), aiming to enhance joint cooperation in academic, training, and professional fields, and to develop programs that contribute to preparing national talent, aligning educational outcomes with labor market needs, thereby reflecting both parties’ commitment to supporting human development, fostering innovation, and facilitating knowledge exchange.
This MoU comes within the framework of both parties’ keenness to establish sustainable cooperation that yields mutual benefit and strengthens integration between academic institutions and the business sector, through launching flagship initiatives and programs that contribute to developing national capabilities, providing practical educational and training opportunities, and preparing a generation of skilled professionals capable of leading the future of various sectors.
On this occasion, the Acting CEO of Kuwait Airways, Captain Abdulwahab Ibrahim Al-Shatti, emphasized that signing the MoU stems from the company’s commitment to expanding its partnerships with leading educational and academic institutions in Kuwait, based on its conviction that investing in human capital constitutes the true foundation for achieving sustainable development and supporting progress across various sectors.
Al-Shatti stated that this partnership represents a significant step toward building an integrated model that combines academic and practical aspects, enabling students to gain insight into real-world work environments and benefit from the practical expertise held by Kuwait Airways, thereby contributing to preparing a generation capable of keeping pace with current and future labor market demands.
He added that the MoU includes the implementation of several joint initiatives and programs, most notably organizing specialized lectures, seminars, and workshops, hosting experts and specialists from both sides, as well as enhancing knowledge and experience exchange, thereby enriching academic content and developing students’ professional skills.
Al-Shatti noted that the agreement also covers cooperation in implementing professional development programs for Kuwait Airways employees through the Center for Continuing Education (CCE) at the American University in Kuwait, which will organize and coordinate specialized training programs and workshops, supporting the company’s efforts to enhance the capabilities of its national workforce and promote a culture of continuous learning and institutional development.
He clarified that areas of cooperation extend to several modern topics that form fundamental pillars for the future of business, such as cybersecurity, digital transformation, work methodologies, innovation, and other fields aimed at developing work environments and improving institutional performance efficiency.
Al-Shatti pointed out that the MoU enables Kuwait Airways to participate in job fairs and professional events organized by the American University in Kuwait, thereby strengthening direct communication with students and graduates, introducing them to career opportunities and professional pathways offered by the air transport sector, and helping attract promising national talent.
Concluding his remarks, Al-Shatti stated that Kuwait Airways is committed to reinforcing its role as a national partner supporting the journey of education and development, through building strategic partnerships with higher education institutions to prepare qualified personnel equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to keep pace with rapid developments, in line with the company’s vision of supporting the national economy and enhancing human capital.
For her part, Dr. Asil Al-Awadi, President of the American University in Kuwait, said: “We are proud to sign this memorandum of understanding with Kuwait Airways, which represents an important step toward expanding the horizons of cooperation between the academic sector and the aviation industry.”
