Ministry of Education: 12 practices for printing textbooks next year
The Ministry of Education has initiated procedures to tender 12 contracts for the printing of textbooks for the first semester of the upcoming academic year 2026/2027. Relevant departments within the Ministry have completed the revisions of school textbooks, finalized the tendering procedures, and determined the required specifications and quantities.
Educational sources told Al-Jarida that the concerned authorities within the Ministry approved the necessary practices for printing school textbooks for the next academic year after presenting them to supervisory bodies, which subsequently granted the required approvals.
The sources indicated that the Ministry contacted the Ministry of Media regarding the textbook printing process, which is typically partially handled by the Government Printing Press. The Press agreed to take on part of the printing work but declined the remainder, prompting the Ministry to tender the remaining portion through contracts in accordance with standard procedures to ensure completion before the start of the academic year.
Regarding the revision and processing of new school textbooks, the sources confirmed that over the past few months, the Ministry received feedback and opinions from the educational field, including teachers, school administrators, supervisors, and parents. These inputs were reviewed, and specialized technical committees were formed by relevant experts to examine these comments and incorporate feasible revisions that contribute to the development of the new curricula.
Concerning the technical aspects of textbook printing, the sources emphasized that the Ministry distributed the contracts among a group of specialized printing presses to ensure timely completion of the work. It is expected that the printing of the first part of the first-semester textbooks will be completed in August, allowing for their distribution to schools before the scheduled start of the academic term in mid-September.
Regarding Grade 10 textbooks, the sources confirmed that the technical committees at the General Directorate of Education have finished compiling the new curricula, which will adhere to international standards. The Ministry has ensured that these curricula include elements of values, patriotism, and loyalty. The printing of Grade 10 textbooks is proceeding according to the established plan and is expected to be ready before students resume classes.
The sources clarified that the ministries have adopted a sequential approach to developing secondary school curricula, starting with Grade 10, which is expected to be implemented at the beginning of the new academic year. Subsequently, efforts to develop and update textbooks for Grade 11, both scientific and literary streams, will begin in the coming period, with implementation scheduled for the 2027/2028 academic year. Finally, the development process will be completed to include Grade 12.
