Paco Ayestaran appointed Jordan coach, replacing Saad Al-Salami

Moroccan coach Badou Zaki has been appointed to oversee the Jordanian national football team on a one-year contract, replacing his compatriot Jamal Salami, who lost his position after Jordan’s exit in the first round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, according to an announcement by the local football federation yesterday.

In a statement, the Jordanian Football Association said, “The board of directors of the Jordanian Football Association, chaired by Prince Ali bin Hussein, has decided to appoint Moroccan Badou Zaki as head coach of the senior national team, to lead the ‘Nashama’ in upcoming fixtures, most notably the 2027 Asian Cup finals to be held in Saudi Arabia.”

Salami’s contract, which had been set to expire after the 2027 Asian Cup, previously covered his tenure as coach of Moroccan clubs Raja Casablanca and FUS Rabat.
