Municipality: Removal of a stadium as part of encroachment campaign

Kuwait Municipality has confirmed the continuation of its field campaign, “Kuwait is More Beautiful Without Encroachments,” to remove encroachments on state-owned land in residential areas, aiming to curb violations and enhance the urban landscape.

Ibrahim Al-Subaie, head of the Violations Removal Department at the Municipality’s Hawalli Governorate branch, said in a statement on the sidelines of a municipal tour in the Salwa residential area today that the campaign aims to limit the spread of violations in residential zones.

Al-Subaie added that the tour resulted in the removal of a football field built illegally on state land. The owner was issued a warning to verify whether he held the necessary permits. However, after the legally mandated period expired and he failed to produce the permits, the illegal field was demolished.

He emphasized that the campaign continues to remove and prevent the construction of green fences around house setbacks or the establishment of diwaniyas (social gathering spaces) on sidewalks, which endanger pedestrians and increase the risk of traffic accidents.

He noted that the Municipality operates in accordance with regulations that outline procedures and fines property owners must comply with, including regulations on cleanliness, road obstructions, safety, and landscaping. Al-Subaie urged owners of encroachments on state-owned properties in private and model housing to promptly respond and remove all forms of encroachments before the Municipality takes legal action, which may include financial fines.
