23,000 traffic violations and 29 reckless drivers apprehended during the week
The Traffic and Operations Sector, under direct instructions from the Acting Sector Head, Brigadier Ahmed Al-Azmi, and with field supervision from the Acting Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic, Brigadier Khaled Al-Adwani, and the Director General of the Emergency Police, Brigadier Rashid Al-Hajeri, and his deputy, Brigadier Hamlan Al-Hamlan, has been implementing security and traffic campaigns aimed at regulating traffic and security conditions on external and internal roads across all governorates.
The security campaigns carried out by the General Directorate of Traffic throughout last week resulted in the issuance of 23,567 traffic violations, the apprehension of 26 reckless drivers, and the referral of 271 vehicles and four motorcycles to the impound lot. Additionally, nine juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Court after being caught driving without valid licenses.
In a media statement, Colonel Fahd Al-Eisa, Director of Traffic Awareness at the General Directorate of Traffic, said that patrols from the traffic management departments in the six governorates, along with the traffic operations department patrols and the traffic criminal investigation department patrols, issued 567 various violations. They also apprehended nine juveniles driving without licenses, as well as 271 vehicles and four motorcycles.
Al-Eisa added that the General Directorate of Traffic patrols handled 2,632 diverse traffic reports during the past week, including 927 collision accidents and 164 collision accidents involving injuries.
He noted that patrol officers referred 36 wanted individuals to authorities, with their security restrictions ranging from absence to arrest warrants. He pointed out that they also apprehended 35 foreigners for expired residency permits, in addition to one individual lacking official identification.
He highlighted that traffic officers managed to seize 26 vehicles wanted by security and judicial authorities, as well as two individuals in abnormal conditions, who were referred to the Anti-Narcotics Directorate.
He clarified that patrols of the General Directorate of Emergency Police also conducted several field security campaigns and security deployments across various governorates, resulting in the apprehension of 32 wanted individuals, with security restrictions ranging from criminal arrest warrants to absence, as well as the detention of 16 individuals for expired residency.
Al-Eisa noted that Emergency Police patrol officers issued 1,115 various traffic violations during the security campaigns and referred two traffic-violating vehicles to the impound lot of the General Directorate of Traffic. They also handled 149 traffic accidents and seized five vehicles for committing serious violations.
He stated that Emergency Police patrols provided assistance in 1,017 cases, and specified that they carried out 1,943 security operations during the past week, which varied between apprehending wanted individuals, providing humanitarian aid to emergency cases, and handling traffic accidents.
Al-Eisa said that Emergency Police patrol officers, through security deployments, managed to apprehend 12 cases of drug or intoxicant use, referring them to the General Directorate of Anti-Narcotics. He emphasized that the General Directorate of Emergency Police referred all apprehended individuals to the General Directorate of Anti-Narcotics.
He clarified that Emergency Police patrol officers managed to seize 13 vehicles wanted by security and judicial authorities, in addition to five individuals lacking identification documents.
