Israel to begin withdrawal from experimental areas in southern Lebanon tomorrow

Axios reported on Monday that an Israeli official said the Israeli military would begin withdrawing from experimental zones in southern Lebanon starting Tuesday, a move that comes amid ongoing understandings regarding security arrangements on the border between the two sides.

According to the official, the withdrawal will begin from the first agreed-upon zones, with the Lebanese Army deploying there as part of a mechanism being implemented with international support and mediation.

This development follows rounds of indirect negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, sponsored by the United States, which focused on implementing the “experimental zones” plan aimed at de-escalating tensions and paving the way for a gradual Israeli military withdrawal from areas in southern Lebanon.
