De la Fuente: We achieved the dream of 47 million Spaniards

Luis de la Fuente, head coach of the Spanish national team, expressed his joy at winning the 2026 World Cup title after defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final after extra time.

Speaking to the Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, De la Fuente said, “The goal that secured the victory is of least importance right now. All I want is to celebrate the tournament trophy.”

He added, “We have realized the dream of 47 million Spaniards on the pitch. This title belongs to everyone.”

He concluded, “I’m not thinking about anyone right now; my mind is completely clear. I just want to lift the trophy and celebrate it with my family.”
