Peru condemns Iranian attacks and reaffirms its solidarity with Kuwait

The Peruvian government expressed its condemnation and rejection of the recent Iranian attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, considering them a “serious threat to peace, security, and stability in the Gulf region and the Middle East.”

In an official statement, the Peruvian government reaffirmed its solidarity with the governments and peoples of the affected countries, calling on all parties to refrain from any steps that could lead to further escalation and to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy as the only means to achieve a peaceful resolution of disputes, in accordance with the provisions of international law.

Peru reiterated its firm commitment to the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter, particularly respect for state sovereignty and the prohibition of the use of force. It also reaffirmed its support for all efforts undertaken by the international community to de-escalate tensions, maintain peace, and enhance security and stability in the Middle East.

In a conversation with Al-Jarida, Peru’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Carlos Fortol, stated that the continuous and unacceptable Iranian aggression against the State of Kuwait constitutes a clear violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and a threat to its security and stability.

He added that Peru stands in solidarity with the government and people of Kuwait in the face of these attacks, calling for respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity and the non-use of force, while expressing Peru’s support for all international efforts aimed at de-escalation and enhancing security and stability in the region.
