The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters Launches the Creative Students Award in Three Fields

The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has launched the new edition of the Creative Students Award, reflecting Kuwait’s commitment to supporting student creativity. The award aims to discover and develop the artistic and literary skills of high school students in Kuwait. It covers three categories: photography, short stories, and poetry (classical, free verse, and prose).

In a statement on its social media platforms, the Council explained that the award seeks to nurture talented students, enhance their artistic and literary abilities, connect school-based creativity with official cultural and artistic institutions, promote reading, writing, and visual arts within educational circles, and foster creativity within a professional framework that upholds ethical and artistic standards.

The Council clarified that participation is restricted to high school students enrolled in public and private schools within Kuwait, who must hold Kuwaiti nationality. Participation is individual only, and submitted works must be original and not previously entered in other competitions. Participants must also adhere to public etiquette and respect societal values.

All submissions must be sent within the specified timeframe, and no modifications are allowed after submission. The use of artificial intelligence to generate artistic or literary works is strictly prohibited. Additionally, both the student and their guardian must sign the official participation form provided.

Participation in the award constitutes full acceptance of the terms. All entries will be archived by the Council, which reserves the right to use them for cultural and educational purposes.

The Council has established specific conditions for each category to ensure the quality and originality of submitted works, thereby reinforcing the award’s objectives of refining student talents and highlighting promising creative potential in Kuwait.

Regarding the judging process, the Council stated that judging panels will be composed of distinguished experts in the three competition categories. Judges will serve on a voluntary basis, and submissions will be sent to them anonymously, with participant names concealed.

Entries will be evaluated according to uniform professional standards, with strict confidentiality maintained throughout the evaluation process. Results will be announced based on submission numbers rather than participant names, ensuring transparency and equal opportunity.

The Council concluded its announcement by confirming that the final deadline for submitting entries is October 25, 2026, with results to be announced during the Kuwait International Book Fair.
